About Shinshu Karasuma (Larch)

The Japanese native tree species, larch, has a harder surface compared to materials like laminated cedar and cypress, making it less prone to scratches and easier to handle.

Larch is a tree species native to Japan and is the only deciduous conifer among Japan's coniferous trees. In autumn, its leaves turn golden, beautifully coloring the mountainous landscapes of Nagano Prefecture. Shinshu larch has beautiful grain, and in addition to the inherent beauty of the wood itself, when manufacturing laminated wood, the emphasis on visual appeal makes a difference in its beauty when used for exposed surfaces. Although it has been utilized for a long time, larch is a very unique species compared to others. We have made it possible to obtain JAS machine-graded structural lumber with cross-sections ranging from 150mm x 150mm to 300mm x 390mm and lengths up to 8,000mm, which was previously difficult.
